Mom unplugs the baby’s NICU monitor to get the nurses’ attention for a sandwich

A mother has sparked massive outrage over a shocking act involving her newborn in the NICU.

The mother, identified as Allie Rae, is said to be under investigation after she was caught removing her baby from hospital monitors while live-streaming her actions on TikTok.

In the footage (from an obscure location), Allie is seen tampering with the equipment monitoring her infant daughter, allegedly to get the nurses’ attention when they weren’t in the room.

“It’s not an emergency”

“No, you’re fine. It’s not an emergency,” she tells the nurse who rushes in to respond to the alarm.

“I was just going to see if you could get me a turkey sandwich.”

In a follow-up video, she claims, “I was told if I needed something to unplug it, and that’s what I’m going to do.”

Many viewers were outraged, saying her behavior was “irresponsible” and “dangerous”.

Abby Lynn, a hospital bedside nurse, took to TikTok to condemn Allie’s actions.

“I’m telling you with 100 percent confidence that there is absolutely no way in hell any nurse told her to unplug one of the baby monitors,” Abby says.

“Even if the baby wasn’t in intensive care, a nurse would never tell anyone.”

Abby also notes that Allie could have just used the call button to call for help.

The controversy deepened when Allie was seen in another clip repeating the act. This time, she disconnected the baby monitors to ask for a drink, despite a nurse being present in the room.

“Careless and Careless”

As comments poured in from her live stream viewers, Allie appeared to laugh off their concerns.

“You guys are so annoying. I can’t get my drink when I’m holding it. Now I’m going to have to tease him because you’re all going to cry about something,” she says.

The videos caused such a strong backlash that Allie eventually deleted her TikTok account.

Abby asked the nurses working with the mother to report the behavior to the authorities.

“She is already exhibiting careless and reckless behavior. If she’s going to act like this while the baby is in the hospital, only God knows how she’s going to be at home,” Abby emphasized.

TikTok user Anthony Blackwell, who has almost half a million followers, shared a video on the app, claiming he has reported the incident to authorities and that “there is an active case under investigation”.
