As Americans become increasingly aware of health, their online food orders are showing a shift to the most nutritious food choices.
This is according to Instaacart, which recently revealed new dietary trends based on customer purchase and search data.
Using data from 2023 to 2024, the Internet Food Distribution Platform calculates a 39% increase in “high protein” searches, as well as a 159% increase in “high fiber” searches.
Instacart also said a 9% increase in purchases of lower sugar and beverage foods and an 8% increase in low fuel purchases have been seen since 2021.
There are other main findings.
Kelly Springer, a dietitian registered in Scaneateles, New York, said she was encouraged by the trends.
“When you are doing instacart, you are more likely to buy those healthy groceries than buying the food moment in the food line,” she told Fox News Digital.
For its methodology, Instaacart calculated the percentage change in the order section in which each category appeared from 2023 to 2024.
For example, the category of non-alcoholic cocktails had an increase of 350% of its order part in 2024 compared to 2023.
“These tendencies are a reflection of the way consumers are embracing more holistic and personalized health approaches,” Alex Orellana, InstaCart trend analyst, for Fox News Digital.
“High -protein products remain known not only for muscle building but also for increasing metabolism and energy, while fiber -rich foods are gaining momentum with increased awareness of intestinal brain bonding.”

Orellana said low fuel diets also remain popular as they support sustainable energy levels and match the broader goals of weight management and wellness.
Instacart has discovered some additional predictions about the future of healthy eating this year.
In its spicy food forecast for 2025, the company discovered a large increase in prebiotic and probiotic beverages, with its order data showing 58% increase year by year in these two categories between 2023 and 2024.
“I think people are starting to hear the linking of digestive health with health in general,” Springer said.
There is also a growing interest in canned fish, a former element of food that had fallen in favor of recent decades.
According to year by year in the ordering section containing canned mackerel and canned sardines from 2023 to 2024, these two canned fish exhibited a 74% and 13% increase, respectively.
Springer said it is “wonderful” that omega-3s-essential fatty acids that help reduce inflammation-“really are making progress”.
People also may not seem to get enough expanded water.
Purchases of electrolyte drinks between 2023 and 2024 showed an increase of 36%, with the portion of walnut walnut walnut walnut nut nut nut nut nut nut nut nut nut from nut nut nut nut nut nut nutritious
All of this data suggests that a focus of health and health continues to affect Americans as they make their decisions for food purchase.
“As a dietitian, I couldn’t be the most careful of Americans,” Springer said.
