This birthday tradition will never grow old.
A pair of best lifelong friends in Louisville, Kentucky have exchanged the same birthday card for over 80 years, signing and meeting it over and over.
“We never said,” We’ll do that. “At least, I never remember saying that this.
It began 81 years ago when Dereamer got a puppy’s card from Mary Wheaton’s puppy for her 14th birthday in April 1944
The following month, Deseamer signed the same card and returned it to Wheaton, and the tradition began back and forth.
Dereamer plans to mailed Wheaton the same card again for her 95th birthday this May.
Women’s engagement has won them the title of the Guinness World Record Book, “The Longest Exchange of Greeting Cards”.
“I think one of my kids came up with the idea that this card had gone back and forth for so many years,” Deraamer recalled.
She and Wheaton met again in 1942 during World War II, when Deseamer moved to the city.
“I haven’t known many people, “Deseamer recalled.” So Mary the type chose me from the gut and type I, you know, it was good for me. We became really good friends. ”
To date, the pair continue to continue their friendship – and the tradition – even if they do not see each other so often.
“I think as you grow old, it wouldn’t seem to have more time, but we don’t seem to have no time to share as we were when we were younger,⠀ said Dereamer.
Their dedication puts two other correspondences of shame.
Wisconsin Paul Jackie Gempler and Evelyn Weier have exchanged the same Christmas cards each year – but only for about half a century.
“I just wonder how many years we can go on,” Gempler said before. “They are beating. They look like they are 50 years old.”
Other female friendships who have stayed in the test of time include UK-based Besties Josie Church and Anne Wallace-Hadrill, who not only live in the other door with each other but also share the same birthday.
The duo have been neighbors since the 80s and were born the same day in 1924 – April 1 â € â means that they just celebrated their 101 birthdays this week.
“I don’t think we’ve been thinking too much about the time passing,” the church said before. “Just passed.
