Salt-A-Braction time!
You have probably heard that a diet with high sodium can increase blood pressure, which increases your risk of heart disease.
But a new study from Canada has done a fruitful discovery-Increasing the intake of certain foods rich in potassium can have a greater impact on regulating blood pressure than to trim in salt.
A prominent option? Banana
“Usually, when we have high blood pressure, we are advised to eat less salt,” said Anita Layton, a professor of applied math, computer science, pharmacy and biology at the University of Waterloo.
“Our research suggests that the addition of more potassium -rich foods to your diet, such as bananas or broccoli, can have a greater positive impact on your blood pressure than just sodium cutting.”
While previous research has highlighted the benefits of potassium in blood pressure, this study has used a mathematical model to analyze how the ratio of potassium to sodium affects blood pressure.
He also explored sexual changes, finding that men are more prone to high blood pressure than women before menopause, but may have an even better response to increased potassium consumption.
“Early people ate a lot of fruits and vegetables, and as a result, our body’s regulatory systems may have evolved to work best with a retail, retail diet,” said the author of Melissa Stadt, a doctoral candidate in the Waterloo’s applied math department.
“Today, Western diets tend to be much higher in sodium and lower in potassium. This can explain why high blood pressure is mainly found in industrialized societies, not in isolated societies.”
While bananas can be the immature heroes of hypertension – their health benefits do not end there.
Bananas are also rich in fiber, which aids digestion and supports regular intestinal movements. They are filled with vitamin B6 and tryptophan, which can improve mood, brain health and nervous system.
Their natural sugars and carbohydrates offer a quick stimulus of energy – in only 105 calories per snack.
Their potassium -rich content makes them one of the best foods to overcome a hangover, as well as a great way to replenish the electrolytes after a sweaty drill.
And-so strange that sounds-people are even rubbing banana peels on their faces to reap the natural, natural, glowing benefits of a “cleaning of the banana peel”.
